Orsola de Castro's "Loved Clothes Last" is a must-read for anyone passionate about fashion and committed to creating a healthier planet. As Arizona Muse aptly puts it, "It's crucial that everyone with an interest in fashion reads this book so we can live on a more sustainable Earth." India Knight echoes this sentiment, calling it "The most timely book you'll read this year."
Are you constantly running out of space for your ever-growing wardrobe? Curious about how you can contribute to tackling the environmental challenges facing our planet? Join Orsola's care revolution and learn how to make the clothes you cherish last longer. This book equips you with a myriad of ways to mend, rewear, and breathe new life into your wardrobe, enabling you to embrace a more sustainable lifestyle. By teaching you to scrutinise your shopping habits and make sustainable purchases, she will inspire you to buy better, care more, and reduce your carbon footprint simply by making your beloved clothes endure.
Following Orsola's practical tips to lavish care and attention on the clothes you already own will not only have a positive environmental impact but will be personally rewarding too. Hand wash, steam, and spot clean your garments, air dry instead of tumble drying, or revive your clothes by sewing or crocheting. Fast fashion leaves behind a trail of human and environmental exploitation. Our wardrobes don't have to be the finish line; they can be a starting point. We can all care, repair, and rewear. Do you accept the challenge?
As Kenya Hunt aptly states, this is "An incredibly thoughtful, must-read guide," and Aja Barber affirms it as "A must-read for anyone who wants to understand the fashion industry as an outsider and wants direction as to where we go next."

Sherlock & Pages is a little bookshop with a big heart. We are based in Frome, Somerset, England and curate lists of books in the areas we are passionate about – landscape, nature, history, and heritage. In short, the conservation of all we’ve inherited and all we are responsible to pass on. We aim to inspire and be inspired, to form a literary culture of care and passion about this precious planet we call home.
This is a shop where you might find something you haven’t seen before, and we like to think we’ve got something for everyone. We choose each of our books with care and for a reason. This is because our physical store is small but beautifully formed, holding only around 1200 titles at any one time. We try and recreate the feel of the shop wherever we are online, to reflect our niche categories and personality.
We have an active social media presence and aim to share our story with all our friends. The long-term goal is to build a hub for the books and writers we believe in. Who knows where our adventure will lead but by supporting Sherlock & Pages you’re helping us to add a further layer of magic to our little corner of the world. If you haven’t visited our physical store, one day you might just make a literary pilgrimage down to Somerset.
Our tagline is ‘Long Live the Hedgerows’ and our symbol a hibernating dormouse. If you want to support an independent with a unique character and which will share stories with you for years to come, then choose Sherlock & Pages. The world needs bookshops with soul, for they are ‘citadels of light.’
