This hollow land: aspects of norfolk folklore, by peter tolhurst, is a study of the traditional beliefs and customs of norfolk, a county whose folklore has often been overlooked compared with its neighbours, largely for want of a dedicated local folklore collector. Drawing together material previously scattered or undocumented, and illustrated with around 200 black-and-white images, the book recovers a rich legacy of norfolk's superstitions, legends and rural customs. First published in 2018 and reprinted due to demand, it stands as a comprehensive account of a folklore tradition that had largely gone unrecorded until tolhurst's research.
